Optovue iVue 80
The iVue 80 is the compact end of Optovue's OCT range: 80,000 A-scans per second, real-time en-face imaging and the iWellness screening scan, in a footprint that goes into an existing exam lane without rebuilding it. It covers retina, glaucoma and anterior segment scanning at a lower investment than the Solix platform, which makes it the instrument most practices adding their first OCT end up looking at. The iCam 12 retinal camera can be added to it at any time; the iVue 80 with the camera fitted is the iFusion 80.
What it does
- 80,000 A-scans per second at 5 µm axial and 15 µm transverse resolution
- Glaucoma, retina and anterior segment exams with the iWellness protocol
- 12 × 9 mm en face retinal view
- 6 mm pachymetry and 12 mm anterior radial scanning with angle analysis
- Non-mydriatic through pupils as small as 2 mm
- Compact footprint fits a standard exam lane
- DICOM compatible for EMR integration
- The iFusion 80 pairs this same OCT engine with the iCam 12 fundus camera in one unit; ask Shari which configuration suits the lane
- Visionix describes the 80,000 A-scan engine as three times faster than the original iVue OCT
Is it right for your practice?
Best fit
General optometry practices, multi-location groups and growing clinics that want OCT for retina and glaucoma management without a flagship platform.
Why consider it
80,000 A-scans per second at 5 µm axial and 15 µm transverse resolution, covering retina, glaucoma and anterior segment from a compact console that fits a standard exam lane. Visionix describes the engine as three times faster than the original iVue. Non-mydriatic through a 2 mm pupil, DICOM compatible, with a 12 × 9 mm en face retinal view and the iWellness protocol included.
What to compare
This is OCT only; there is no fundus camera. If you want both in one footprint, that is the iFusion 80 - the same instrument with the iCam 12 fitted. Because the camera can be added later, buying the iVue 80 first is a staging decision rather than a different instrument. Against the Solix Essential, the difference is the scan engine: 80K versus 120K, and no OCT-A.
Ask me about
Whether the iFusion configuration makes more sense for your case mix, and whether OCT-A is something you will want within the life of this purchase, because it is not something you can add later here.
