Optovue Solix Essential
The Solix Essential runs the same 120,000 A-scan spectral-domain engine as the flagship Solix, with 5 µm axial resolution, FDA-cleared AngioVue OCTA vessel density metrics, and anterior segment imaging to a 10 mm scan length. What it does not carry is the full FullRange anterior-to-posterior suite. For a practice whose OCT work is retina, glaucoma and cornea, that distinction costs nothing in daily use. AI-powered segmentation, DualTrac motion correction and the iWellness screening protocol are all present.
What it does
- 120,000 A-scans/sec with 5µm axial resolution
- FDA-cleared AngioVue OCT-A: 3×3 to 12×12 mm scan sizes
- Anterior segment OCT: 18µm lateral resolution, up to 10 mm scan length
- DualTrac motion correction for imaging with reduced motion artifact
- AI-powered retinal layer segmentation
- iWellness & AngioWellness screening protocols
- FAZ Analytics for early diabetic vascular change detection
- NetVue Pro review software (up to 10 workstations)
Is it right for your practice?
Best fit
Retina, glaucoma and comprehensive practices that want the Solix scan engine and OCT-A without the extended anterior depth of the flagship.
Why consider it
The same 120,000 A-scan spectral-domain engine as the full Solix, at 5 µm axial and 15 µm lateral resolution, with the same AngioVue OCT-A and the same AI layer segmentation. Anterior segment OCT is still there for pachymetry and corneal evaluation; what is missing is the extended FullRange depth. It supports a wellness screening program through iWellness and AngioWellness.
What to compare
If angle analysis or IOL planning is part of your week, the FullRange depth on the flagship is the reason to spend the difference. If it is not, this is the same instrument for the work you actually do.
Ask me about
Where the price lands against the flagship once both are configured, and what iWellness looks like as a program in practices near you. Coding and coverage vary, so treat it as a wellness offering rather than assuming it bills.
